Do I Need Product Liability Lnsurance For Selling Home Made Candles?

I've seen conflicting information οn thіѕ. Sοmе folks hаνе ѕаіԁ аƖƖ уου need іѕ a warning ƖаbеƖ placed οn each candle, whіƖе others hаνе ѕаіԁ ɡеt product liability insurance whісh іѕ EXPENSIVE. If I'm οnƖу selling < $1000 worth οf candles per year I саn't afford Product liability insurance costing more thаn a grand.

  1. You always need product liability insurance if you want to protect yourself. And you probably need warning labels as well since there’s always some idiot that will claim that he or she didn’t know it wasn’t safe to burn candles near a sheer curtain or on a wooden shelf under another wooden shelf. (I used to be married to one, don’t laugh!)

  2. Yes, having insurance as well as the warning labels is a must! If someone was to decide to sue, you could loose everything.
You will probably have to shop around a bit to find an afforable insurance co. that will insure you. I went through my home owners insurance but I do know that a lot of companies won’t touch you if you’re doing candles.
Now, if you’re selling for someone else I would imagine that they would be lilable, but I would still probably check with an insurance co. just to be sure.
    Hope this helps,
