  1. If you wanted your son to stay with you, why did you move into a 55+ apt? Maybe your son should grow up and get his OWN place instead of living off others, including his mommy. Rules are in place for a reason. The fact that 55+ places have the best rates is not an excuse to be dishonest. You agree to abide by the rules and why would you think that you can be an exception to the rule. Why shouldn’t teenagers, toddlers, infants be allowed to move in based on your thinking. 55+ housing is EXACTLY that. They don’t want everybody else and their brothers, sons, etc. living there. Don’t think that you can “hide” the fact. Your living situation is at risk as what you are doing is, GROUNDS FOR EVICTION! Maybe you and your son can get a place together and he can pay 1/2 the rent. That would be the responsible thing for both of you. Keep in mind what you are teaching your son by your own actions and enabling him to be irresponsible. He needs to grow up and you are not helping him.

  2. You MUST be honest and above board.
If you move, your record follows you wherever you may go; and the next place might want to do a police check on you before allowing you to rent. Most apartment managers now fill out a form and send the police names of those who have moved out listing whether or not they were good tenants. This is a very common practice in this day and age.
You’d be surprised that most senior neighborhoods will say yes to your request as long as he is quiet and his friends do not come over. Also no extra cars in front of your place all at the same time.
Seniors like to take naps and do not like the music kids are playing now days. He will need to keep his music down.
